Evan Sutherland has accepted the Director of Coaching position at Bluegrass Soccer Club. He comes from Nicholasville, KY where he played for the JYSA Storm Soccer club and was a graduate of West Jessamine High School. He played college soccer at the University of the Cumberlands where they were Mid South Conference Champions his sophomore year. He transferred to Alderson-Broaddus in West Virginia to finish his playing career and tallied 10 goals as junior from central defender. He has five years of coaching experience and has coached at many levels. He has been an Assistant Coach at Georgetown College for the past 4 years. He is also involved with the Kentucky ODP staff as the Assistant of the 95 Boys. Coach Sutherland has coached the 93 Storm SC Boys for the past 4 years where he guided them to the state cup semifinals last spring as well as the MRL playoffs. He is the current Head Coach of the U13 Bluegrass SC Boys and led them to the KSSL Premier League title this fall. He has sent several players on European soccer tours and has formed many relationships with coaches from clubs all over the region. Coach Sutherland currently holds the USSF National B Coaching License and the National Youth License and will be working towards the USSF A and the NSCAA Premier Diploma. He was named the 2007 JYSA Storm Coach of the Year. Coach Sutherland believes that Bluegrass Soccer Club has the foundation in place to build a regionally recognized club. He believes that player development and instilling the passion and love for the game is the most important component to club success. Coach Sutherland resides in Nicholasville with his wife Alexis and is attending Asbury College to finish a degree in Business Management.
