August 14, 2010 - Fonyam Atanga, coach of the Bluegrass Soccer Club B97 White team, was awarded the "Boys Select Coach of the Year" today by Kentucky Youth Soccer for his efforts with the team and the ODP progam. Fonyam, in his second year with the BSC Boys 97 White, has helped the team advance each session to where they are now competing in the Midwest Regional League First Division this Fall. Additionally, Fonyam earned his USSF "B" license earlier this year. Congratulations to Fonyam.
August 15, 2010- The Bluegrass Soccer Club B97 White team won the Bluegrass Cup today with a 4-1 victory over United International 97 Boys. Earlier in the tournament, the BSC 97B White team had defeated the Commonwealth 97 Gold team and a strong BSC 97B Blue team in a come-from-behind 2-1 game. Congratulations to the team on their first tournament victory of the season.
August 30, 2010 - Led by strong defense and goaltending, the Bluegrass Soccer Club B97 White captured their second tournament of the season with a 2-1 victory over the Brentwood (TN) 97 Boys Elite in the Brentwood Invitational this weekend. In the preliminary games, the BSC B97 White defeated the Eagle SC (TN) 97B team by 9-1; the Brentwood 97 Boys Select by 3-0; and, the FC Alliance (TN) B97 team by a score of 1-0. Thank you to everyone associated with the Brentwood Soccer Club for hosting a great tournament at your terrific soccer complex.
September 6, 2010 - In perhaps the most exciting game of the Mead Cup tournament, the BSC B97 White scored 3 goals in the final five minutes of the contest to earned a 3-3 tie with top-ranked Century United (PA) in the opening match. Playing with less than 2-hours rest, BSC B97 White held strong with state champion and tournament finalist Concordia Royal (OH) before wearing down and falling 4-0. On Sunday morning, the team turned in an overall strong performance in defeating FC Pride (IN) by a score of 4-1. Congratulations to the team as they head into the Midwest Regional League (MRL) season. October 17, 2010 - The Bluegrass Soccer Club 97 White team won its third tournament of the year today with a 2-0 victory over Lexington Futbol Club (LFC) 98 Premier. The championship game was a paced affair with LFC keeping 10 players in the defensive half until late in the game and not taking a shot on goal the entire match. Earlier in the day, BSC 97 White tied LFC Boys 97 Premier at 2-2. BSC 97 White jumped ahead 1-0 and 2-1 with LFC tying the match midway through the second half. The remainder of the game was an even struggle. The BSC 97 White would like to thank Luke Treadway and his family for joining our "family" for the weekend. We are also looking forward to a full recovery for our midfielder Jonathan Rase who broke his arm in the championship match.
October 23, 2010 - The BSC 97 White wrapped up their first Midwest Regional League (MRL) season today with a 3-1 victory over FC Pride (IN). The team performed solidly in a very strong division, finishing in the middle of the grouping at 2-3-3. Two of the league losses were to the CUP Crew Gold (#6 nationally) and Carmel United Soccer Club (#10 nationally), with the other being a late 1-0 defeat to Grand Rapids (MI) Crew FC. The team was very competitive in every game, showed continuous improvement and is looking forward to the Spring MRL season. In addition, BSC 97 White played seven teams ranked #1 in their state during the Fall season.
December 8, 2010 - Bluegrass 97 White was selected again today to compete in the Midwest Regional League First Division. Playing in the East Red division, BSC 97 White will compete with Alliance Academy (MI), Michigan Wolves East (MI), Vardar Ann Arbor (MI), Pennine United (ON), Internationals (ON), CUP Crew Black (OS) and Ohio Premier Classic Eagles Red (OS). Game schedules will be announced in early January.
March 19, 2011 - The Bluegrass 97 White opened their season this weekend by defended their title in the Kick in the Bluegrass tournament. The team defeated United 97 Premier by a 1-0 score followed by a 5-1 victory over the Bluegrass 97 Blue. The championship match with United 97 International ended in a hard fought, evenly matched 0-0 draw. Bluegrass 97 White earned the title on goal differential. Congratulations on the team's first tournmament victory of the Spring season.
April 15, 2011 - Congratulations to the five Bluegrass 97 White players that have been named to the Kentucky Olympic Development Program (ODP) team. The players on the Kentucky 1997 ODP team include Jack Batman, Zac Blaydes, Thomas Hayes and Noah Valencia. Jason Murillo has been named to the 1998 ODP team. In addition, Fonyam Atanga continues as a coach of the Kentucky 1998 Boys ODP team.
May 15, 2011 - Bluegrass 97 White clinched the Kentucky Select Soccer League Division 1 Championship today with a 1-0 victory over Mockingbird Premier. In completing their undefeated run, the team outscored the opposition 35-3 in league play and worked for seven shutouts. Congratulations to the team as they prepare for State Cup play.
July 1, 2011 - Bluegrass 97B White would like to welcome our new coach as well as our five new players for the upcoming season. Marcel Simo has been with Bluegrass SC for several years and holds a USSF National "A" license. Our new players include Nolan Moser, Garrett Pritchert and Levi Tipton, along with Corey Smith and Trevor Watkins who return to the team this year.
October 1, 2011 - Over the summer, six players from Bluegrass 97B White team participated in the ODP Region II training camp in Kansas City as part of the 18-member Kentucky team. The players included Jack Batman, Zac Blaydes, Thomas Hayes, Nolan Moser, Corey Smith and Noah Valencia. In addition, Zac Blaydes has been named to the Region II extended pool team.
